On April 9–10, 2026, the First American and European Symposium on Criminal Victimology was held at the Public Bar Association of the Federal Capital (CPACF), marking a landmark event for Argentina and bringing together more than 20 national and international experts.
Organized by the Victimology Institute of Usina de Justicia and CPACF, the symposium positioned Argentina as the host of a high-level international discussion on victims’ rights within the American and European criminal justice systems.
At the closing ceremony, the Victimology Institute of Usina de Justicia presented a distinction to Gustavo Gorriz, Director of DEF Magazine and TAEDA Publishing House, in recognition of his contribution to the field of victimology through the publication of the book New Paradigms for Criminal Justice: Toward a Victim-Centered Era, a collection of articles written by members of Usina de Justicia.
The event concluded with the signing of the Buenos Aires Declaration, a manifesto in which authorities and speakers reaffirmed the need for a victim-centered approach to criminal justice and advocated for the development of a scientific and evidence-based legal framework.
