In the context of its 10th anniversary, the Taeda Foundation organized the first edition of the Taeda Awards, which at that time honored personalities who contributed “to peace in the world,” including former Israeli President Shimon Peres, Pope Francis, and former South African leader and anti-apartheid activist Nelson Mandela. The Argentine Air Force was also recognized for its Reusable Hospital, as well as Rio de Janeiro’s former Secretary of Security, Mariano Beltrame.

On behalf of former Israeli Head of State, the award was given to his son, Yonatan Peres, who traveled specifically to Argentina to attend the event. Shimon Peres, in turn, sent a recording as a thank-you, expressing his honor at being awarded alongside Pope Francis and Nelson Mandela.
